The Galápagos Islands is an archipelago of volcanic islands distributed around the equator in the Pacific Ocean, 972 km west of Ecuador. To get to the islands requires air travel from Ecuador to the main island where one can board one of the many boats authorized by Ecuador to run tours to select islands. Time on the islands is well regulated and once on the island the naturalist guides do not permit visitors to wander off the marked paths. I consider this type of trip an adventure of a life time. Being able to get so close to wild animals and birds is quite an experience.
